Cornish Rex je strednej veľkosti, mačka s krátkou srsťou & štíhly stavať. The legs are long & the body curves upward from the ribs, for the so-called "tuck-up". Nohy sú dlhé & telo krivky nahor od rebier, pre takzvaný "jedlo-up". The tail is long & tapering. Chvost je dlhý & zužuje. Although it is a fine boned cat, it is quite muscular. Hoci sa jedná o jemnú kostrou mačka, to je docela svalnatý.

The coat is wavy (known as a marcel wave) in appearance with curly whiskers & eyebrows. Srsť je vlnitá (známa ako Marcel vlna) v vzhľadu s kučeravými fúzy & obočie. The typical cat has three types of hair, guard hairs, awn hairs & down hairs (the undercoat). Typická mačka má tri typy vlasov, pesíkov, awn vlasy & nadol chĺpky (podsada). The Cornish Rex coat completely lacks the guard hairs, giving it an incredibly soft feel. Cornish Rex srsť úplne chýba pesíkov, čo je neuveriteľne mäkký pocit. The coat is wavy in appearance. Srsť je zvlnený vzhľad. 

The head is wedge shaped, & is longer than it is wide, it has high cheekbones &  a roman nose. Hlava je klinovitá, & je dlhšia, než je široká, má vysoké lícne kosti & rímsky nos. The ears are set high on the head, but should not be too close together. Uši sú posadené vysoko na hlave, ale nemala by byť príliš blízko pri sebe. The eyes are oval. Oči sú oválne.
